Lab Grown Diamonds
Lab-grown diamonds are chemically, physically, and optically identical to natural diamonds but offer distinct advantages. They typically cost 40-60% less than natural diamonds of equal quality, making them more budget-friendly. Environmentally, lab diamonds have a smaller carbon footprint as they avoid mining-related ecological disruption. Ethically, they guarantee conflict-free sourcing. However, "better" depends on priorities: Natural diamonds hold rarity and tradition value, while lab-grown appeal to cost-conscious and eco-aware buyers. Both pass the same 4Cs grading standards.
The only difference is origin. Natural diamonds form over billions of years under Earth’s mantle, while lab diamonds replicate this process in weeks using advanced technology (HPHT or CVD). They share identical chemical composition (pure carbon), hardness and sparkle. Lab-grown diamonds often have fewer inclusions due to controlled growth. Price is a key differentiator – lab diamonds are significantly more affordable. Only specialized equipment can distinguish them, and both receive certifications from institutes like GIA or IGI.
HPHT (High-Pressure High-Temperature): Mimics Earth’s natural conditions by subjecting carbon to 1.5 million PSI and 2,700°F, forming a diamond around a seed crystal.
CVD (Chemical Vapor Deposition): Uses a vacuum chamber where carbon-rich gases (like methane) are ionized into plasma, depositing carbon layers onto a diamond seed.
Both processes take 2-6 weeks. The rough diamond is then cut and polished by master artisans, following the same standards as natural diamonds.
The 4Cs are the universal grading system for diamonds:
Cut: Precision of facets/angles (most critical for sparkle).
Color: Graded D (colorless) to Z (light yellow tint).
Clarity: Inclusions/flaws visibility under 10x magnification.
Carat: Weight/size (1 carat=0.2 grams).
A diamond’s value combines all four factors. Lab and natural diamonds use the same GIA/IGI grading scales. Cut quality has the biggest impact on brilliance – an Excellent-cut diamond outshines a Poor-cut one, even with higher carat weight.
Cut refers to how well a diamond’s facets interact with light. It’s graded on:
Proportions: Depth/table percentages affecting light reflection.
Symmetry: Alignment of facets.
Polish: Smoothness of surfaces.
An Ideal/Excellent cut diamond reflects maximum light through its top (creating "fire" and "brilliance"), while a Poor cut leaks light, making it appear dull. Popular cuts like Round Brilliant or Princess each have specific facet patterns. Cut quality is separate from shape – always prioritize cut grade over size for optimal sparkle.
Yes, we provide an IGI certification for every engagement ring featuring a diamond weighing 1 carat or more.
We use only high-quality lab-grown diamonds in our jewelry. Most of our diamonds have a color grade of F or G and a clarity grade of VVS2, ensuring exceptional brilliance and beauty.
